Coby Rotan & The Naturals is less a band than a brotherhood.

Fronted by Permian Basin native Coby Rotan — now based in Canyon Lake — the group delivers a sound that’s gritty, soulful, and unmistakably their own. Rotan first surfaced with a string of independent singles in 2023, including “The Yeti Song” and “Place Outside of Austin”, showcasing a blend of West Texas grit and Southern warmth. His songwriting has been compared to troubadours like Robert Earl Keen, with a mission to “write songs people can feel.”

In early 2025, Rotan joined forces with bassist Lucas “Honky Tonk Red” Copeland, drummer Lincoln “Love” Lankford, and manager Jon Paul “Hogleg” Long to form The Naturals — a band built on chemistry, groove, and truth-telling songs. The lineup quickly expanded to include Ryan Igler (lead guitar), Rolando “Rolo” Ramon (fiddle), Brad Sosebee (keys), and Kevin Garinger (harmonica).

Before ever stepping on a stage, the group spent a year recording and rehearsing. Their debut album Strictly Business — produced by AJ Vallejo and Drew Heaton at Gruene Studios, and mastered by Adam Odor at Yellow Dog — is due out in the winter skies of 2026. The lead single, “Fightin’ Chance”, offers a first taste of their roots-driven, unshakably authentic sound.

And then came the night it all came to life. On a packed Saturday, Coby Rotan & The Naturals made their live debut at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas — the state’s oldest continually operating dancehall and a sacred landmark in Texas music. Opening for Creed Fisher before a sold-out crowd, the band’s very first show became their baptism by fire. Most acts claw their way for years just to get a slot at Gruene Hall. The Naturals started there — armed with twelve songs, a year of rehearsal, and a chemistry that lit the room like they’d always belonged.

Now partnered with Smith Distribution, the band is ready to take their music beyond Texas dancehalls and honky-tonks, putting their songs in front of fans everywhere. With songs that cut deep, a lineup that feels like family, and a fire that shows no signs of burning out, Coby Rotan & The Naturals are staking their claim as one of the next great Texas country bands — forged in the studio, born at Gruene Hall, and built for the climb ahead.
